Why one trusted adult can change a young life
Research and our own experience keep pointing to the same thing: a consistent, caring relationship is the single biggest protective factor for a young person.

When we ask the young people we work with what made the difference, they rarely mention a programme or a facility. They mention a person — someone who showed up, week after week, and believed in them before they believed in themselves.
Mentoring is not about having the right answers. It is about being consistent, curious, and kind. A good mentor listens more than they speak, celebrates small wins, and stays steady when things get hard.
That is why we invest so heavily in training and supporting our volunteers. A relationship that lasts is worth more than a hundred one-off sessions, and the ripple effects reach into school, family, and friendships.
If you have an hour a week and a willingness to keep showing up, you already have what it takes. The rest, we can teach.
