Meet the volunteers behind the Friday night club

Every Friday, a small team of volunteers turns an ordinary hall into somewhere young people actually want to be. Here is what keeps them coming back.

Meet the volunteers behind the Friday night club

It starts at five o'clock with a stack of chairs and a kettle. By seven, the room is full of noise, games, and the particular energy of forty teenagers who have somewhere to belong.

Our Friday night club runs entirely on volunteers — people who give up an evening because they remember what it felt like to be that age, and to need somewhere safe.

We asked a few of them why they keep coming back. The answers were simple: the young people, the team, and the moments when a quiet kid finally cracks a smile.

Volunteering here is not always easy, but it is always worth it. And you do not need any special qualifications — just warmth, patience, and a willingness to learn.
